ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Woodbridge Senior High School is located in Prince William County, near Interstate Route 95 and approximately 25 miles from downtown Washington, D.C. The school was named for the community in which it was located.

Woodbridge Senior High School is one of the first high schools in Prince William County. Originally housed in the building on York Drive that currently serves as Woodbridge Middle School, Woodbridge Senior High School has been at its present site on Old Bridge Road since 1974.

COMMUNITIES SERVED

Woodbridge Senior High School serves students who reside in Woodbridge and Lake Ridge.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

In September 2001, the Center for Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) was established at WSHS.

This specialty program incorporates six concentrations, which include creative writing, dance, instrumental music, vocal music, theater, and visual arts. The vision of the CFPA is to encourage and develop creativity, self expression, academic achievement, and critical thinking in the young artist and to prepare the student for study in a college or university arts program.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS & EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Enrichment programs include free after-school tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Transportation is provided at no cost to the students.

The Gifted Education Program, Advanced Placement, Governor’s School for the Gifted and Talented, and dual enrollment in college courses are all available to qualified students.

Woodbridge Senior High School participates in all Virginia High School League activities, including sports, cheerleading, debate, drama and forensics and produces award-winning publications including the Valkryie newspaper, the Valhalla yearbook, and Eddas literary magazine.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Parents are invited to participate in the PSO, the Advisory Council and a number of booster organizations, including Athletic Boosters, Academic Booster, and Band Boosters.

WHAT MAKES OUR SCHOOL UNIQUE?

Woodbridge Senior High School has been a part of the Prince William County community for many years. As a result, there are many people in the community who are WSHS alumni and also many WSHS teachers who were once students there. This ongoing connection links Woodbridge Senior High School to the community beyond its doors.
