Shop for School Tax-Free before School Begins; Virginia Sales Tax Holiday is August 1–3
July 21, 2014

School supplies selling for $20 or less per item and articles of clothing, including footwear, selling for $100 or less per item will be exempt from sales tax during the Virginia Sales Tax Holiday scheduled for Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 3.

Families with children in Prince William County Public Schools are encouraged to take advantage of these savings to prepare their students for the upcoming school year. Check your school’s Web site or call your school for a copy of the 2014–15 supply list. For a directory of schools, go to pwcs.edu and click on “Schools,” then select the directory by grade level.

Beginning July 28, SPARK, the Education Foundation for PWCS, will collect school supplies at the Kelly Leadership Center to help ensure that all student have the back-to-school basics they need to return to school ready to learn. The Kelly Leadership Center is located at 14715 Bristow Road, Manassas, VA 20112
Most-needed items include backpacks, 3-ring binders, tabbed dividers, folders with pockets, spiral notebooks, loose-leaf paper, colored pencils, pencil boxes/bags, tissues, hand sanitizer, marble composition books, ink pens (blue or black), No. 2 pencils, washable markers, crayons, highlighters, glue/glue sticks, rounded scissors, index cards, and graph paper.

Delinquent Immunizaton Notice

You will be receiving a "Delinquent Immunization" letter* in the mail, if your child’s required school immunization is incomplete in our system. This is in accordance with Prince William County School (PWCS), Regulation 755-1. Please contact your child’s Primary Care Provider or the Prince William Health Department, to ensure that he/she is in compliance with PWCS Regulation 755-1, before returning to school in September. For Prince William Health Department Immunization Clinic Information, click here.
*The delinquent immunization letter you received in the mail will not affect your child’s summer school or athletics. Please, disregard the exclusion date of 06/12/2014. Send in the completed immunization record with your student before the last week of September 2014 or mail it to the school, attention: clinic. The school clinic will reopen the week of August 25, 2014.

Sports Concussion Education Training
All middle and high school student athletes and their parent/guardian are required to complete an annual Concussion Training according to Prince William County Public School Policy 759. As there are sufficient differences in the way concussions will be handled at the middle school and high school levels, a parent having children in both middle and high schools are required to attend both a middle and a high school presentation. Students and their parent/guardian have two ways to receive this concussion training. 1.)Face to Face Training- High school parents and students who are entering 9th grade and trying out for a sport for their first time in high school or are new to Prince William County Public schools must attend a face to face concussion training at their respective school. Click here for the face to face meeting schedule. 2.)Online training- Beginning June 22, 2014, parents and students who have already attended a face-to-face training may take this year’s mandatory concussion training online. Rising 6th grade and 9th grade students and students new to Prince William County Public Schools are not eligible for the Online Training. Start the online training.
